Someone smart, please help me
Random question: I have a book from 1969 that has been out-of-print for a long time. I would like to type up some passages from it and share them on this blog. Is this legal?

Hi!
I think it is legal if you give credit to the book, including title, author and publisher. People site other sources in other types of writing, such as text books, books of poetry etc.
Now I'm curious about the book you want to site!
Thanks, Mary! It is a very neat cookbook containing not only recipes but also chapters on meal planning, hospitality, etc.
This book is not part of the "public domain" Copyright is valid for life of the author plus 75 years. However, if you cite the book that the passages come from and they amount to less than 10% of the book, you should be in the clear.
